Happy Hour Meets Strategic Sourcing at ConnXus Inaugural OTR Event

Rapidly-soldout event will bring together over 70 minority- and woman-owned businesses and 30 corporate procurement representatives at Revel OTR on September 21, 2017.

MASON, OH – August 29, 2017 ConnXus has strategically partnered with local and national organizations to host its inaugural sourcing event including MORTAR, American Red Cross, Procter & Gamble (P&G), Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Council (ORV-WBC), StartupCincy and Hillman Accelerators.

Clearly implied within its brand name, ConnXus connects; the seven-year old supplier management technology provider is known for driving inclusive procurement within Fortune 2,000 corporations’ supply chains. This event is the physical manifestation of that mission. Strategic sourcing, according to the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), is “an organized and collaborative approach to leveraging targeted spend across locations with select suppliers that are best suited to create knowledge and value.”

“A big differentiator for this event is its intentional focus on strategic sourcing,” states Crystal Davis, ConnXus Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager.” She explained, “Prior to the event, the diverse suppliers and buyers will be placed into the ConnXSmart virtual matchmaker and strategic sourcing tool. This allows the buyers to easily book a dedicated time to meet with one or more suppliers at the event to collaborate and discuss potential solutions to strategic needs of the buyer.”

The happy-hour style networking event will take place at minority-, woman- and family-owned urban winery, Revel OTR. Owners John and Amy Coleman and Anthony and Jodi Maieron opened the doors to their laid-back wine bar in April of 2017, who proudly make all wine on premise.

MORTAR co-founder William Thomas, an official partner of the event, is eager to experience the connections to me made between MORTAR graduates and buyer corporations. He states, “ConnXus partnered with MORTAR from day one when planning this event. From inviting our graduate companies to attend to hiring Jessie’s Table, a minority-owned graduate company, to cater the entire event.”

Stay tuned for more information about the suppliers and buyers in attendance and insight on the speakers.
